Biochem/physiol Actions

7α,24(R/S)-dihydroxycholesterol is a racemic mixture. 7α,24(S)-dihydroxycholesterol (7α,24(S)-diOHC) is synthesized from 24(S)-OHC in the presence of enzyme oxysterol 7-α-hydroxylase 2 (CYP39A1). 7α,24(S)-diOHC is a ligand for liver X receptor (LXR).[1][2]
