Biochem/physiol Actions

Zymosterone is metabolized to cholesterol synthesis intermediate, zymosterol in the presence of enzyme hydroxysteroid (17β) dehydrogenase 7 (HSD17B7).[1] Zymosterone conversion to zymosterol catalyzed by 3-keto sterol reductase (ERG27) is a key step in yeast ergosterol biosynthesis.[2]
