General description

Potassium and calcium salts of oxalic acid dehydrate are found in nature in the cell sap of Oxalis and Rumex.[1] Detailed analysis of the crystal structure has been reported.[2]

Application

General applications may include its use as a compound in indigo dyeing, calico printing etc. It may used as a reducing agent in organic synthesis. Other possible uses of oxalic acid are:
  • added in chromic acid for anodization of Al alloy, to improve corrosion resistance.
  • additive for ozone treatment of cellulose.[1]
