General description

Titanium(IV) butoxide (titanium (IV) n-butoxide) is a titanium alkoxide[1] commonly used as a source of titanium for the synthesis of titanium dioxide (TiO2).[2]

Application

Titanium(IV) butoxide may be used in the synthesis of the following:
  • high-molecular-weight poly(L-lactic acid) (PLLA)[3]
  • GS (graphene sheets)/TiO2 composite colloids[4]
  • titanium impregnated borosilicate zeolites[5]
  • TiO2-coated silver nanowires network[6]
Used to prepare nanosized titania in the anatase form and ferroelectric Bi4Ti3O12 thin films. Used in the preparation of nanocrystalline TiO2 powders at room temperature.
