General description

Poly(1,4-phenylene sulfide) (PPS) (viscosity 1,400 poise) is also known as poly(phenylene sulfide). It can be used as a backbone aromatic polymer that is used as a highly resistant engineering plastic. It is commercially manufactured by the condensation reaction of 1,4-dichlorobenzene and sodium sulfate in a polar solvent.[1][2]
Poly(1,4-phenylene sulfide) (PPS) (viscosity 275 poise) is also known as poly(phenylene sulfide). It can be used as a backbone aromatic polymer that is used as a highly resistant engineering plastic. It is commercially manufactured by the condensation reaction of 1,4-dichlorobenzene and sodium sulfate in a polar solvent.[1][2]

Application

Auto intake manifolds and pumps, electrical connectors and circuit boards, flame-resistant clothing, valves, coatings, non-stick coatings, power tool parts and heater grills.
PPS can be sulfonated using sulfuric acid to form ion exchange membranes which are used as active separators in electrochemical processes. It can also be used in the formation of proton conducting membrane for fuel cell and solar cell applications.[1][2][3][4]

Features and Benefits

High performance, linear thermoplastic. Excellent thermal and chemical resistance, inherent flame resistance and superior electrical insulation properties.
