Application

Destruxin A from Metarrhizium anisopliae has been used for immersion and inoculation bioassay in Rhipicephalus (Boophilus) microplus. It has been used as a transport inhibitor in Drosophila melanogaster.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Destruxin A is a cyclic hexadepsipeptide produced by fungus causing paralysis and death in insects. May suppress the insect immune response. Possesses an inhibitory activity on leukemic cell proliferation, decreasing the number of cells in G2/M phase. It is virustatic against arboviruses.

Nutritional conditions causing droplet exudation by Metarhizium anisopliae var. anisopliae were studied. Exudation in droplets occurred only on media with more than one carbon source and was highly dependent on the ratio of a well metabolized sugar such as trehalose

Destruxins, a family of cyclic peptides, are produced by various species of entomopathogenic fungi. These peptides have been shown to influence calcium-dependent processes in insect cell lines and tissues, such as skeletal muscles. To better understand the mechanism of action

The cytotoxicity of a destruxin A (DA) treatment of Spodoptera litura SL-1 cells was investigated. An MTT assay showed that DA was highly toxic to SL-1 cells in a concentration- and time-dependent manner. The IC(50) values of DA, after 24 h

This study evaluated the effects of destruxin A on Rhipicephalus (Boophilus) microplus females, since this toxin is one of the likely causes of high mortality induced by the entomopathogenic fungus Metarhizium anisopliae in arthropods. Ticks were immersed or inoculated with

The production of peptide toxins by entomopathogenic fungi during the infection process plays critical roles in pathogenesis. To gain insight into the mechanism of action of these mycotoxins on insect internal organs, we have evaluated the effects of destruxin A
