General description

Sodium chloride (NaCl) is a colorless solid and its crystals belong to the cubic crystal system. It is widely employed preservative for meat, vegetable and fish products. NaCl is a useful precursor for the production of sodium and chlorine containing compounds. Its effect on the growth of salmonellae (mixed inoculum of Salmonella thompson, S. stanley and S. infantis) has been investigated.

Application

Sodium chloride was used in the isolation medium along with other constituents, prepared for incubating bone-marrow cells, during the isolation and expansion of hBM-MSCs (human bone-marrow mesenchymal stem cells).
