General description

Wright Stain, a modified Romanowsky stain, is intended for differential staining of the cellular elements of blood. It comprises polychrome methylene blue and eosin B. Upon staining blood films with Wright Stain, the white blood cell nucleus and cytoplasm display characteristic blue or pink hues.

Application

  • Wright Stain is intended for use in staining peripheral blood smears and bone marrow smears.
  • It has been used to study the cytogenetics of human hematopoietic cells.
  • It has also been employed in the karyotyping of human embryonic stem cells.
  • It is also used for G-banding and helps in the analysis of poorly spread metaphases.
Reported to be superior to May-Grunwald Stain in blood staining.

Features and Benefits

  • The purified dyes in Wright Stain eliminate inconsistent staining and yield reproducible lot-to-lot chromogenic responses.
  • Reported to be superior to May-Grunwald Stain in blood staining.
  • Certified by the Biological Stain Commission.
