General description

Grade 1: 11 μm (medium flow filter paper)

The most widely used filter paper for routine applications with medium retention and flow rate. These cellulose filters are used in qualitative analytical techniques to determine and identify materials. Prepleated qualitative filters are also available, which give improved flow rate and increased loading capacity compared to equivalent flat filters.

Features and Benefits

  • Qualitative analytical separations for precipitates such as lead sulfate, calcium oxalate (hot), and calcium carbonate
  • Agricultural soil analysis and seed testing procedures
  • Industrial food processing techniques to extract liquid or separate solid foodstuffs from associated liquid
  • Air pollution monitoring by collecting atmospheric dust from airflow and photometrically measuring the stain-intensity
  • Gas detection by quantitative chromogenesis with optical reflectance

This paper describes a silica nanoparticle-modified microfluidic paper-based analytical device (μPAD) with improved color intensity and uniformity for three different enzymatic reactions with clinical relevance (lactate, glucose, and glutamate). The μPADs were produced on a Whatman grade 1 filter paper
