Metobromuron is an herbicide active substance that belongs to the chemical group of phenylureas. It is a selective, systemic, pre-emergence herbicide used for the control of annual broad-leaved and grass weeds in beans, potatoes, tomatoes, tobacco, soybeans, maize, artichokes, and sugar beets.
It was approved on 1st January 2015 by the Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) No 890/2014 and is declared to be sanctioned under the Regulation (EC) No 1107/2009 as per Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) No 540/2011.

Application

It is intended to be used as a certified reference material (CRM) for calibration in chromatography and other analytical techniques.
The metobromuron CRM can also be used as given below:
  • Study the fate of sunflower herbicides, metobromuron and aclonifen in soil
  • Evaluate the photocatalytic degradation of metobromuron using TiO2 catalysts
  • Investigate metobromuron using selective electrochemical sensors in the presence of nanomaterials
  • Measure the levels of phenylurea herbicides in vegetables using SPME coupled with GC
  • Determine selected pesticides from tobacco using high-performance liquid chromatography-electrospray ionisation-tandem mass spectrometry
