Gene Information

human ... PLSCR1(5359)

General description

Phospholipid scramblase 1 (PLSCR1) is a 35kDa calcium dependant phospholipid translocator. The gene is located on human chromosome 3q24. The protein is overexpressed in tumor cells.

Immunogen

PLSCR1 (NP_066928.1, 1 a.a. ~ 318 a.a) full-length human protein.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Phospholipid scramblase 1 (PLSCR1) bidirectionally transfers lipids across the membranes. It negatively regulates autophagy in mantle cell lymphoma (MCL). This protein is known to scramble phospholipids in the plasma membrane and thereby, disrupt membrane asymmetry. It functions as a multifunctional signalling molecule. It also has nuclease activity. PLSCR1 plays a role in cell proliferation, differentiation, apoptosis, pathogenesis of cancers, particularly leukemia.
