Protecting media from exposure to light has been a long-standing practice in maximizing the shelf-life. This is a common practice with both microbial and tissue culture media. These products include multiple components, some of which are undefined. While the specific reaction taking place cannot be provided, the more sensitive components of this formulation include the sodium thiosulfate, the sodium bisulfite, and the lecitihin. Please review the literature for each of these for specific reactions to extended exposure to light. The link below may be of interest:

I left the D/E dehydrated powder at room temperature for 2.5 months by mistake. Is the powder still okay to use, or should I get a replacement?
1 answer-
The powder may need to be replaced. The stability of this product stored in room temperature for 2.5 months can not validated. It would have to be determined by end-user.
