suitability
selective and differential for Enterobacter spp. selective and differential for Escherichia coli selective and differential for Klebsiella spp. selective and differential for Proteus spp. selective and differential for Salmonella spp. selective and differential for Shigella spp. selective and differential for coliforms
Application
A selective medium for the differentiation of lactose fermenting and lactose non-fermenting intestinal organisms.
Preparation Note
Suspend 41 g in 1 litre of distilled water. Add 4 ml of 10% w/v alcoholic solution (96% ethyl alcohol) of basic fuchsin (Cat. No. 47860). Bring to boil to dissolve completely. Sterilize by autoclaving at 121°C for 15 minutes. Mix well before pouring.
Other Notes
