General description

16:0-18:0 (11-12BR) PC (1-palmitoyl-2-(11,12-dibromo) stearoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine) is a brominated-PC lipid which has palmitoyl and stearoyl chains.

Application

16:0-18:0 (11-12BR) PC (1-palmitoyl-2-(11,12-dibromo) stearoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine) has been used in large unilamellar vesicle preparation. It may be used:
  • in phospholipid vesicle preparation for tryptophan (Trp) penetration depth experiments
  • to determine the bromination effect at different positions along the fatty acid chains
  • in large unilamellar vesicle (LUV) for quenching of human heat shock protein 70 (Hsp70) tryptophan (Trp) fluorescence

Biochem/physiol Actions

16:0-18:0 (11-12BR) PC (1-palmitoyl-2-(11,12-dibromo) stearoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine) can be used to prepare large unilamellar vesicles.

While a significant fraction of heat shock protein 70 (Hsp70) is membrane associated in lysosomes, mitochondria, and the outer surface of cancer cells, the mechanisms of interaction have remained elusive, with no conclusive demonstration of a protein receptor. Hsp70 contains

All membrane proteins have dynamic and intimate relationships with the lipids of the bilayer that may determine their activity. Mechanosensitive channels sense tension through their interaction with the lipids of the membrane. We have proposed a mechanism for the bacterial

Nα-Acetyltransferase 60 (Naa60 or NatF) was recently identified as an unconventional N-terminal acetyltransferase (NAT) because it localizes to organelles, in particular the Golgi apparatus, and has a preference for acetylating N termini of the transmembrane proteins. This knowledge challenged the

Apolipoproteins are essential human proteins for lipid metabolism. Together with phospholipids, they constitute lipoproteins, nm to μm sized particles responsible for transporting cholesterol and triglycerides throughout the body. To investigate specific protein-lipid interactions, we produced and characterized three single-Trp containing
