Description générale

Molecular Sieve 5A efficiently removes moisture and heavy hydrocarbons from compressed air, electrolytically produced hydrogen, house nitrogen, or other gases with high moisture or hydrocarbon content.

Dimensions:
  • 200 cc Trap: 26 1/4 in. (67 cm) long × 1 in. (2.5 cm) diameter
  • 750 cc Trap: 18 in. (45.7 cm) long × 2 3/8 in. (6 cm) diameter
  • S-Trap: 7 1/2 in. (19 cm) long x 5 9/16 in. (14.1 cm) wide x 1/2 in. (13 mm) diameter [total bed length: 19 3/4 in. (50.2 cm); the extended bed length ensures prolonged contact between the gas and the adsorbent and provides greater working capacity]

Application

Molecular Sieve 5A moisture trap may be used for the removal of hydrocarbons from air.[1] Furthermore, it may also be used in gas chromatography for the measurement of atmospheric nitrous oxide.[2]

  1. Hi, We just purchased the Molecular Sieve 5A. What flow rate could we expect to get with an inlet pressure of 200 psi? If we connected another Sieve 5a in parallel would we double the flow rate? Thanks Vic

    1. The 200 cc Molecular Sieve 5A Trap is rated for a maximum flow rate of 2,000 cc/min at an inlet pressure of 250 psig/17.2 bar. The 750 cc Molecular Sieve 5A Trap is rated for a maximum flow rate of 10,000 cc/min at an inlet pressure of 250 psig/17.2 bar. In theory, if the same inlet pressure can be maintained for two traps run in parallel, the effective flow rate measured from the combined outlets would double. In practice, this flow rate may not be exactly doubled due to some uncontrollable variables between a single trap and multi-trap system.

  3. How do I refill Product No. 23991, Molecular Sieve 5A Water Vapor Trap?

    1. Product No. 23991 at one end has a two piece fitting.  Remove the 1/8 in NPT fitting and empty contents into an appropriate container for proper disposal.  Clean and replace any Teflon sealing material. Refill the trap with four of Product No. 20298.
