Informations sur le gène

Description générale

Monoclonal anti-Spectrin (α and β) (mouse IgG1 isotype) is produced by the fusion of mouse myeloma cells and splenocytes from an immunized mouse. Spectrin is a major constituent of the erythrocyte skeleton accounting for 25% of the total membrane protein and 75% of the cytoskeletal mass.
Spectrins are heterotetramers, that are composed of several αand β subunit isoforms. They are the constituents of G-protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) and the synaptic multiprotein complex. α-Spectrin has 20 spectrin repeats (α1-α20) and β-spectrin has 17 spectrin repeats (β1-β17). SPTA1 (spectrin α 1) is located on chromosome 1q21–q23 and SPTB (spectrin β) is located on chromosome 14q22–q23.2.

Spécificité

This antibody reacts specifically with the α and β chains of human erythrocyte spectrin.

Immunogène

human erythrocyte spectrin.

Application

Anti-Spectrin (α and β) antibody has been used in western blotting and immunostaining.
Monoclonal Anti-Spectrin (α and β) antibody produced in mouse has been used in flow cytometry analysis and confocal microscopy.

Actions biochimiques/physiologiques

Spectrins are multifunctional proteins, that modulates the cell morphology and mechanical properties. Spectrins also participates in the cell cycle by controlling the upregulation of membrane receptors. α- and β-spectrins are essential for the development of nervous system.
