Application

L-(-)-Norepinephrine (+)-bitartrate salt monohydrate has been used:
  • to infuse dogs to form a intracellular lipid accumulation model
  • to analyse the signaling involved in the up-regulation of monocarboxylate transporter 2 (MCT2) expression in cultured cortical neuron
  • in neurochemical preparation to study the response of gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria to norepinephrine
  • to study the roles of peripheral hormones on thyroid activity of turtles

Biochem/physiol Actions

Norepinephrine bitartrate plays an important role in in vivo and in vitro development of pathogenic and indigenous bacteria. It acts as a vasoconstrictor and adrenergic neurotransmitter.

Questions

  1. What are the optimal conditions and storage temperature to preserve this compound once it has been aliquoted? Can it be stored at -20ºC for long-term?

    1 answer
    1. The stability of this compound in solution has not been investigated. Preparation of fresh solutions is recommended, when possible. If solution storage is necessary, various literature sources indicate that light-protected aliquots may be stored at -20°C for up to 12 months. In addition, dilute stock solutions (<1mg/mL) may be stable up to 2 months at 4°C and up to 24 hours at 23°C. Solutions that are pink or brown in color are degraded and should not be used. This information has not been validated. Please see the links below to review additional publications that may be of interest.
