Mediates the degradation of a myriad of short-lived regulatory proteins including the tumor suppressor p53 in the presence of E6/E6-AP or MDM2, the c-Fos transcription factor, and the signal-induced ubiquitination of IκBα, UBC5 is an essential gene in yeast.

Ubiquitin-Carrier Protein H5c human also referred to as UbcH5c is a recombinant protein that interacts with ZIPK and stimulate its ubiquitination and hence facilitates in regulating ZIPK accumulation in promyelocytic leukemia protein nuclear body (PML-NBs). [1]
