General description

Anti-Tyrosine Hydroxylase Antibody detects endogenous levels of total Tyrosine Hydroxylase protein.
The TH (tyrosine Hydroxylase) gene codes for a homotetramer that contains catalytic, regulatory, and tetramerization domains in each of its subunits.

Immunogen

The antiserum was produced against synthesized peptide derived from human Tyrosine Hydroxylase.

Immunogen Range: 10-59

Biochem/physiol Actions

The conversion of l-tyrosine into l-DOPA is catalyzed by tyrosine hydroxylase (TH), which is the rate-limiting step in the in the synthesis of catecholamines such as dopamine and also other necessary hormones and neuromodulators. TH enzyme deficiency results in low levels of dopamine, which is characterised in Parkinson′s disease.
