Glutamate decarboxylase 2 (GAD2) is a 65kDa protein expressed in β-cells. The gene encoding this protein is localized on human chromosome 10p12.1.
Immunogen
Peptide with sequence C-TLEDNEERMSRLSK from the internal region of the protein sequence according to NP_000809.1.
Biochem/physiol Actions
Glutamate decarboxylase 2 (GAD2) is an isoform of glutamate decarboxylase, which is involved in the synthesis of γ-aminobutyric acid (GABA). GAD2 is an auto-antigen in type I diabetes and has been shown to have a role in gastric cancer.
