Gene Information

rat ... Ptgdrl(63889)

General description

Prostaglandin D2 receptor (PTGDR) is encoded by the gene mapped to human chromosome 14q22.1. This receptor is mainly localized on immune cells. In addition, it is also expressed in platelets, cells of the central nervous system, ciliated and non-ciliated bronchial cells and alveolar epithelial type I and type II cells.

Immunogen

synthetic peptide corresponding to the third extracellular loop of human protaglandin D2 receptor. The immunizing peptide has ~80% homology with both the rat and mouse gene.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Prostaglandin D2 receptor (PTGDR) gene acts as a promising target for DNA methylation in advanced types of neuroblastoma (NB). The encoded protein is implicated in pulmonary vasodilation, bronchoconstriction, recruitment of eosinophils, basophils and T-lymphocytes. In addition, it also stimulates the synthesis of leukotriene C4. The gene expression has been associated with asthma.

Target description

Prostaglandin D2 Receptor gene encodes a protein that is a G-protein-coupled receptor. It has been shown to function as a prostanoid DP receptor. The activity of this receptor is mainly mediated by G-S proteins that stimulate adenylate cyclase

Physical form

Solution in phosphate buffered saline, pH 7.7, containing 0.1% sodium azide.
