General description

Connective tissue growth factor (CTGF) is a secreted multimodular protein, which is an important cytokine, belonging to the CCN family of multifunctional factors.

Immunogen

synthetic peptide corresponding to amino acids 181-195 of human CTGF

Application

Anti-CTGF (181-195) antibody produced in rabbit has been used in immunoblot assay to study the protein expression of cells and renal tissues. It is also suitable for western blot at a dilution of 1:500-1:2,000.
Yale Center for High Throughput Cell Biology IF-tested antibodies. Each antibody is tested by immunofluorescence against HUVEC cells using the Yale HTCB IF protocol. To learn more about us and Yale Center for High Throughput Cell Biology partnership, visit sigma.com/htcb-if.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Connective tissue growth factor (CTGF) is involved in several developmental regulatory processes of chondrogenesis, osteogenesis, and angiogenesis. It also has implications in various pathologcal processes, including, fibrosis, and tumorigenesis. Its gene expression is sensitive to DNA methylation. The methylation of the CTGF promoter is correlated with CTGF expression in ovarian cancer cells and may be involved in liver tumorigenesis. Its C-terminal domain plays a vital role in the S1P (sphingosine-1-phosphate)-induced endothelial cell migration.
