General description

Heptachlor, a chlorinated cyclodiene, is generally used as chiral pesticide.

Application

Heptachlor may be used as an insecticide analytical standard for the determination of the analyte:
  • In groundwater samples by solid phase microextraction (SPME) method with a polyacrylate fibre, prior to detection by gas chromatography mass spectrometry in electron impact ionisation mode (GC–EI-MS).
  • In fruits and vegetables using solid phase extraction clean-up followed by gas chromatography and electron-capture detection (GC–ECD).
Heptachlor was used in determination of concentration levels of heptachlor in dry fish using gas chromatography with electron capture detector.
