General description

Sitoindoside I is an acyl steryl glycoside.
Sitoindoside I is present in fruits like banana (Musa paradisiaca). It is an acyl steroid glycoside phytochemical. Sitoindoside I has heterogeneous aglycon composition. It is hypoglycemic agent.
Sitoindosides are natural sterols, containing ergostane. It holds a glucose moiety at carbon 27.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Plant based sterylglucosides have neurotoxic functionality and are correlated to the pathogenesis of neurodegenerative disorders in vivo.
Sitoindoside I is known to exhibit anti ulcerogenic action.
