Gene Information

human ... IL17A(3605)

General description

IL-17A (interleukin 17A) is a proinflammatory cytokine of Th17 (helper T cells). It is located on chromosome 6p12.

Immunogen

a 16 amino acid peptide from near the amino-terminus of human IL-17A.

Application

Anti-IL-17 has been used in western blotting and immunohistochemistry.

Biochem/physiol Actions

IL-17A (interleukin 17A) plays a major role in the pathogenesis of autoimmune diseases like multiple sclerosis and rheumatoid arthritis. It also plays a pathogenic role in allergic rhinitis (AR). It helps in the formation of several chemokines and cytokines in airway epithelial cells.

Linkage

The action of this antibody can be blocked using blocking peptide SBP4877.

Physical form

Solution in phosphate buffered saline containing 0.02% sodium azide
