General description

Glutamate is an important chemical in general metabolism. It is also a crucial mammalian neurotransmitter that is believed to be involved in a number of neurological and psychiatric disorders such as lateral sclerosis, lathyrism, autism and Alzheimer′s disease. Glutamate is also widely used as a flavor enhancer in the food industry. Simple, direct and automation-ready procedures for measuring glutamate concentration are very desirable.

Application

The Glutamate Assay Kit may be used for:
  • Drug Discovery
  • Food and Beverage Testing
  • Neurological Disease Research

Features and Benefits

Broad Detection Range: Detect Glutamate levels accurately across a wide range, from 50 µM to 2.5 mM, using only 20 μL of sample in a 96-well plate setup, ensuring comprehensive analysis with minimal sample requirement.

Simplified Process: Experience a streamlined process with the addition of only a single working reagent and a 30 minute room temperature reaction, reducing complexity and saving valuable time and effort.

Compatibility with High-Throughput Systems: Easily incorporate our kit into high-throughput handling systems, ensuring smooth and accurate processing, enhancing efficiency in your laboratory workflow.

Suitability

Suitable for glutamate determination in serum, plasma, tissue extracts and food extract samples. Also suitable in drug discovery/pharmacology for studying the effects of drugs on glutamate levels.

Principle

The Glutamate Assay Kit is based on glutamate dehydrogenase catalyzed oxidation of glutamate, in which the formed NADH reduces a formazan (MTT) Reagent. The intensity of the product color, measured at 565 nm, is proportionate to the glutamate concentration in the sample. Detection limit of 50 μM , linearity up to 2.5 mM glutamate in 96-well plate assay.

Diarrheal disease is a common health problem with complex causality. Although diarrhea is accompanied by disturbances in microbial diversity, how gut microbes are involved in the occurrence of diarrhea remains largely unknown. Here, using a pig model of post-weaning stress-induced
