Gene Information

human ... STAT2(6773)

General description

The Janus kinase (JAK)/signal transducers and activators of transcription (STAT) signaling pathway plays an important role in cell proliferation, cell differentiation, cell migration, and cell death. It is the principal signaling mechanism for a variety of cytokines and growth factors. Constitutive activation or dysregulation of JAK/STAT signaling can result in inflammatory disease, erythrocytosis, gigantism, and leukemia. STAT2 (113 kDa), originally purified from the nuclei of a-interferon-treated cells, is critical to the transcriptional responses induced by type I interferons, IFN-alpha/beta. Knockout mice with a targeted disruption of STAT2 exhibit greater susceptibility to viral infection and altered responses to Type I interferons. Stat2 is rapidly activated by phosphorylation at Tyr690 in response to stimulation by IFN-alpha/beta via assocations with receptor-bound Jak kinases.

Specificity

Other homologies: Rat (89% sequence homology).
This antibody recognizes STAT2 phosphorylated at Tyr689.

Immunogen

Epitope: Phosphorylated Tyr689.
KLH-conjugated linear peptide corresponding to mouse STAT2 phosphorylated at Tyr689.

Application

Anti-phospho-STAT2 (Tyr689) Antibody is an antibody against phospho-STAT2 (Tyr689) for use in Immunoprecipitation.
Immunoprecipitation Analysis: 10 µg from a representative lot immunoprecipitated phospho-STAT2 (Tyr689) from IFN alpha treated HeLa cell lysate.
