Application

Having N,N′-bis-(3-methylphenyl)-N,N′-bis-phenyl-benzidine (TPD) like unit, TBBDA (BPBPA) is electron-rich. As a result, it is used as a hole-transport material in organic light-emitting diodes (OLED).
Example of OLED Device Performance:
ITO/DNTPD (60 nm)/BPBPA (30 nm)/mCBP (10 nm)/mCBP:Ir(dbi)3 (30 nm)/LG201 (35 nm)/
LiF (1 nm)/Al (200 nm)
Color: blue
EQE: Not known
Turn-On Voltage: 2.8V
Max. Luminance: ~ 9900 Cd/m2

Besides, for organic solar cell (OSCs) applications, its highest occupied molecular orbital energy value at 5.3 eV is well matched with a donor layer and its high mobility of 1.74 × 10-2 cm2/Vs brings out an easy and rapid extraction of holes from the donor material.
N,N′-Tetra(4-biphenyl)benzidine can be used as an emissive layer or hole transporting material in studies such as organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs), photovoltaics, organic field-effect transistors (OFETs).
