Questions

1–2 of 2 Questions
  1. Can Harris, Gill's, or Mayer's Hematoxylin be used as a substitute for Weigert's Iron Hematoxylin?

    1 answer
    1. In general, Harris, Gill's, or Mayer's Hematoxylin cannot be substituted for Weigert's Iron Hematoxylin. Weigert's Iron Hematoxylin is the preferred hematoxylin when staining procedures are very lengthy or quite acidic, as it does not tend to decolorize under such conditions. Weigert's Iron Hematoxylin is not typically used for staining slides for hematoxylin and eosin (H&E). Instead, it is most frequently used as a counterstain for special stain procedures when an aluminum-based hematoxylin formulation is not suitable. An example of such use would be in either Gomori or Masson Trichrome procedures.

  2. Is there a staining protocol available for Weigert's Iron Hematoxylin HT1079?

    1 answer
    1. This solution is typically used as a nuclear counterstain for various special stain procedures. The instructions provided for the HT10 (Gomori's Trichrome Solution) or HT15 (Masson Trichrome) staining procedures can be used
