Weigert's Iron Hematoxylin is not typically used for staining slides for hematoxylin and eosin (H&E). Instead, it is most frequently used as a counterstain for special stain procedures when an aluminum-based hematoxylin formulation is not suitable. An example of such use would be in either Gomori or Masson Trichrome procedures.
