Application

α1-Mating Factor acetate salt has been used for the synchronization of yeast cells for flow cytometry and to study B-type cyclin (Clb2p)-EmCitrine levels from calcofluor white treated cells.

Biochem/physiol Actions

The α1-Mating factor is a pheromone produced by yeast that regulates mating. α1-Mating Factor acetate salt can be utilized to arrest the G1-phase of the cell cycle in various yeast strains.

Preparation Note

Alpha1-Mating Factor acetate salt dissolves in water at 1 mg/ml to yield a clear, colorless solution.

Single-molecule force spectroscopy using atomic force microscopy (AFM) is more and more used to detect and map receptors, enzymes, adhesins, or any other molecules at the surface of living cells. To be specific, this technique requires antibodies or ligands covalently

The cell division cycle is a fundamental process required for proliferation of all living organisms. The eukaryotic cell cycle follows a basic template with an ordered series of events beginning with G1 (Gap1) phase, followed successively by S (Synthesis) phase

Fungal adhesins represent a large family of serine/threonine-rich secreted glycoproteins. Adhesins have been shown to play roles in heterotypic and homotypic cell-cell adhesion processes, morphogenetic pathways and invasive/pseudohyphal growth, frequently in response to differentiation cues. Here we address the role

We report that the histone acetyltransferase Gcn5p is involved in cell cycle progression, whereas its absence induces several mitotic defects, including inefficient nuclear division, chromosome loss, delayed G(2) progression, and spindle elongation. The fidelity of chromosome segregation is finely regulated

In eukaryotes, chromatin binding to the inner nuclear membrane (INM) and nuclear pore complexes (NPCs) contributes to spatial organization of the genome and epigenetic programs important for gene expression. In mitosis, chromatin-nuclear envelope (NE) interactions are lost and then formed
