Arsenazo III has been used as a color forming reagent to determine uranium concentration.

Arsenazo III is a metallochromic dye. Arsenazo III is used in the determination of calcium in biological samples. It is used to evaluate calcium transport in permeabilized cells. It is also used for the detection of rare earth metals (polyvalent metal ions). Arsenazo III is used for the spectrophotometric determination of uranium and thorium.
