General description
2-Butanone, also known as methyl ethyl ketone (MEK), is commonly used as a mobile phase solvent in High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC). Its properties, such as moderate polarity and the ability to dissolve a wide range of compounds, make it suitable for separating various organic compounds effectively.
Application
BX1673P-1 is packaged in poly coated glass bottles. 2-Butanone can be used :
- In reverse-phase chromatography, it facilitates the separation of hydrophobic compounds due to its ability to interact with both polar and non-polar substances.
- For the preparation of calibration standards and may serve as a diluent for sample solutions prior to analysis. Its relatively low viscosity helps in achieving improved flow rates and reduced backpressure during the chromatographic process.
