V-type nerve agents, known as VX, are organophosphate (OP) compounds, and show extremely toxic effects on human and animals by causing cholinergic overstimulation of synapses. The bacterial organophosphorus hydrolase (OPH) has attracted much attention for detoxifying V-type agents through hydrolysis

A previously healthy 2-y-old boy was admitted to the hospital 30 min after the ingestion of 10 ml of demeton-S-methyl (META-SYSTOX). Treatment consisted of gastric decontamination, atropine, reactivator (obidoxime) and supportive therapy. Atropine was given to control the muscarinic features.

The psocid, Liposcelis paeta Pearman, is an increasingly important polyphagous pest of stored products worldwide. Intensive use of organophosphorous insecticides for pest control has facilitated resistance development in psocids in China. Three insecticide-resistant field populations of L. paeta were collected
