General description

The ABCG2 (ATP binding cassette subfamily G member 2) gene encodes an ATP-binding cassette (ABC) transporter that is also called as breast cancer resistance protein (BRCP). It is composed of 655 amino-acids and is located on human chromosome 4q22. It belongs to the ABCG (white) subfamily.

The antibody detects endogenous level of total ABCG2(CD338) protein.

Peptide sequence around aa. 160-164 ( R-I-N-R-V), according to the protein NP_004818.2

Biochem/physiol Actions

ABCG2 (ATP binding cassette subfamily G member 2) serves as a shield for several tissues against xenobiotic molecules. It can provide multidrug resistance (MDR) in breast and other cell lines.

Target description

Xenobiotic transporter that may play an important role in the exclusion of xenobiotics from the brain. May be involved in brain-to-blood efflux. Appears to play a major role in the multidrug resistance phenotype of several cancer cell lines. When overexpressed, the transfected cells become resistant to mitoxantrone, daunorubicin and doxorubicin, display diminished intracellular accumulation of daunorubicin, and manifest an ATP-dependent increase in the efflux of rhodamine 123.

Solution in phosphate-buffered saline containing 0.02% sodium azide and 50% glycerol
