NLR family CARD domain containing 3 (NLRC3), also referred to as nucleotide-binding oligomerization domain containing 3 (NOD3), is encoded by the gene mapped to human chromosome 16p13.3. The encoded protein belongs to the NLR protein family and is abundantly expressed in purified T cells, B cells and natural killer (NK) cells, but also in thymus, uterus and kidney.
Immunogen
NOD3 antibody was raised against an 18 amino acid peptide near the center of human NOD3.
Biochem/physiol Actions
NLR family CARD domain containing 3 (NLRC3) negatively regulates nuclear factor-κB (NF-κB) activity and innate immune signaling induced by the DNA sensor STING (stimulator of interferon gene). NLRC3 inhibits mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) pathways involved in providing protection against colorectal cancer. Thus, downregulated expression of the gene has been observed in colorectal cancer and Wegener′s granulomatosis patients.
