General description

CYSLTR1 (cysteinyl leukotriene receptor 1) is a GPCR (G-protein couple receptor), which functions as a receptor for CysLTs, such as, LTC4 (leukotriene C4), LTD4, and LTE4. This receptor is expressed by epithelial cells, and translocates to nucleus from cell membrane in a ligand-dependent manner. It also resides in the cytoplasm.

Application

All Prestige Antibodies Powered by Atlas Antibodies are developed and validated by the Human Protein Atlas (HPA) project and as a result, are supported by the most extensive characterization in the industry.

The Human Protein Atlas project can be subdivided into three efforts: Human Tissue Atlas, Cancer Atlas, and Human Cell Atlas. The antibodies that have been generated in support of the Tissue and Cancer Atlas projects have been tested by immunohistochemistry against hundreds of normal and disease tissues and through the recent efforts of the Human Cell Atlas project, many have been characterized by immunofluorescence to map the human proteome not only at the tissue level but now at the subcellular level. These images and the collection of this vast data set can be viewed on the Human Protein Atlas (HPA) site by clicking on the Image Gallery link. We also provide Prestige Antibodies® protocols and other useful information.

Biochem/physiol Actions

CYSLTR1 (cysteinyl leukotriene receptor 1) participates in inflammatory processes, and its antagonists are used in the treatment of bronchial asthma. It also regulates vascular permeability and is involved in ischemic brain injury. It elicits elevation in blood-brain barrier permeability, and thus, brain edema and ischemia. In house dust mite-allergic individuals, the expression of CYSLTR1 by T-cells is increased in a IL-4-dependent manner, when sensitized by Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus allergen. Its expression is also linked with bronchial inflammation in COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder) patients with severe exacerbations. This receptor might be involved in the pathogenesis of adenoid hypertrophy, as it is highly expressed in the adenoid tissues of children with AH. Studies in Chinese children show that the expression level of this receptor in upper-airway tonsillar tissues determines the severity of sleep-disordered breathing (SDB).

Features and Benefits

Prestige Antibodies® are highly characterized and extensively validated antibodies with the added benefit of all available characterization data for each target being accessible via the Human Protein Atlas portal linked just below the product name at the top of this page. The uniqueness and low cross-reactivity of the Prestige Antibodies® to other proteins are due to a thorough selection of antigen regions, affinity purification, and stringent selection. Prestige antigen controls are available for every corresponding Prestige Antibody and can be found in the linkage section.

Every Prestige Antibody is tested in the following ways:
  • IHC tissue array of 44 normal human tissues and 20 of the most common cancer type tissues.
  • Protein array of 364 human recombinant protein fragments.

In order to determine the potential for allergen to modulate T cell expression of the CysLT1 receptor and responsiveness to leukotrienes, peripheral blood mononuclear cells from house dust mite-allergic or nonallergic individuals were incubated with D. pteronyssinus allergen (Der p).

Evidence suggests that increased leukotriene level and receptor protein expression emerged in the adenotonsillar tissue of children with sleep-disordered breathing (SDB). Nevertheless, few studies have investigated the contribution of disease severity in the cysteinyl leukotriene (CysLT) production and cysteinyl leukotriene
