Bleomycin Sulfate is an antineoplastic antibiotic isolated from Streptomyces verticillus. It is recommended for use as a cell culture agent at 10-100 μg/mL.

Bleomycin Sulfate is an atineoplastic antibiotic isolated from Streptomyces verticillus. It is recommended for use as a cell culture agent at 10-100 μg/mL.

Bleomycin sulfate from Streptomyces verticillus has been used:

• to study the impact of telomere shortening in lung fibrosis
• to induce lung injury and study its effect on CEACAM6 expression
• as a DNA-alkylating agent to induce lung injury
• study its effect on CEACAM6 expression
• to cause lung injury
• subsequent fibrosis in animals

Biochem/physiol Actions

El sulfato de bleomicina se une al ADN, provoca la escisión del ADN monocatenario en secuencias de bases específicas e inhibe la síntesis de ADN. Esta acción inhibidora requiere que la bleomicina se una al oxígeno y a un ion metálico. También puede escindir el ARN en menor grado pero con más selectividad. Actúa como inductor y regulador de la apoptosis e inhibe la angiogénesis tumoral.

Preparation Note

This product is a mixture of glycopeptides antibiotics containing Bleomycin A₂ (70%) and B₂(30%). Bleomycins differ from each other in the terminal amine and show varying biological activity.

El producto es soluble en agua a 20 mg/ml y es activo durante varios días. Una disolución de 2 unidades/ml en fosfato de potasio neutro 0,1 M debe utilizarse en 14 días. Una disolución es activa durante tres meses a 3 unidades/ml en disolución salina normal.

Other Notes

Este producto es una mezcla de antibióticos glucopeptídicos que contienen bleomicina A₂ (70 %) y B₂(30 %). Las bleomicinas difieren entre sí en la amina terminal y muestran actividad biológica variable.
