Descripción general

El tetrahidrofurano (THF) es un compuesto heterocíclico (éter cíclico). Es incoloro, tiene poca viscosidad y buena solubilidad en una amplia gama de disolventes. Se utiliza mucho como disolvente en síntesis orgánica, siendo muy popular en reacciones con compuestos organometálicos y reactivos de Grignard. Debido a la formación de peróxidos orgánicos en el almacenamiento a largo plazo, el THF suele estabilizarse añadiendo hidroxitolueno butilado (BHT). El BHT elimina los radicales libres requeridos para la formación de peróxido.

Aplicación

El tetrahidrofurano (THF) se utiliza como disolvente en los siguientes procesos:

  • Síntesis orgánica
a) Grignard
b) Compuestos organometálicos
c) Reformatsky
d) Litiación
e) Reducción de hidruros
f) Acoplamiento catalizado por metales (Heck, Stile, Suzuki)
g) Reacciones mediadas por ácidos de Lewis
  • Cristalización
  • Polimerización. Ej. Polimerización RAFT (transferencia de cadena de adición-fragmentación reversible) de p-acetoxistireno.
  • Revestimientos
  • Como un ligando donante de O para formar complejos de coordinación.
  • Como disolvente de fase móvil en la cromatografía de líquidos de alta resolución.

    1. If this product has an expiration or retest date, it will be shown on the Certificate of Analysis (COA, CofA). If there is no retest or expiration date listed on the product's COA, we do not have suitable stability data to determine a shelf life. For these products, the only date on the COA will be the release date; a retest, expiration, or use-by-date will not be displayed.
      For all products, we recommend handling per defined conditions as printed in our product literature and website product descriptions. We recommend that products should be routinely inspected by customers to ensure they perform as expected.
