General description

Thimerosal belongs to the group of alkyl mercury compounds. Pharmaceutical secondary standards for application in quality control provide pharma laboratories and manufacturers with a convenient and cost-effective alternative to the preparation of in-house working standards

Application

These Secondary Standards are qualified as Certified Reference Materials. Thimerosal may be used as a pharmaceutical reference standard for the quantification of the analyte in ophthalmic solutions using spectrophotometric technique.

Biochem/physiol Actions

El timerosal es un reactivo oxidante de sulfhidrilo (tiol) capaz de inhibir una amplia variedad de enzimas dependientes del sulfhidrilo y proteínas como la metionina sintasa dependiente de PI3-cinasa, receptores de transporte de glutamato y las ATPasas dependientes de Na⁺+K⁺.
