Descripción general

Benzyldimethyltetradecylammonium chloride (BTDACl), a quaternary ammonium compound,[1] is a cationic surfactant.[2] It is utilized as phase transfer catalyst in organic reactions.[3] Kinetics, thermodynamics and reaction mechanism of biosorption of benzyldimethyltetradecylammonium chloride (tetradecyl benzyl dimethyl ammonium chloride) onto activated sludge has been studied.[1]

Aplicación

Benzyldimethyltetradecylammonium chloride (Dimethylbenzyltetradecylammonium chloride) may be used in the following studies:
  • Spectrophotometric determination of cobalt(II).[4]
  • Preparation of mixed micelle with tetradecyltrimethylammonium (TTAB) and tetradecyltriphenylphosphonium bromides.[5]
  • Preparation of modified analcime zeolite, used in the trace determination of cadmium.[6]
  • As a phase transfer catalyst in the preparation of 2,3-epoxy-1-phenyl-3-aryl-1-propanones.[3]
