General description

VOC-Pak® Polisher is designed to purify ultrapure water for the analysis of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in GC and GC-MS analyses. The polisher is made up of activated carbon specifically designed for the effective removal of VOCs from ultrapure water. This unit is an excellent choice for scientists in need of VOC-free ultrapure water for their analytical applications.
VOC-Pak® Polisher produces VOC-free water when fed with ultrapure water at the Q-POD® point of dispense of Milli-Q® IQ 7000, Milli-Q® IQ 7003/05/10/15 and Milli-Q® EQ 7000/08/16 water purification systems.

Application

VOC-Pak® Polisher is used to produce VOC-free water for GC and GC-MS analyses when fed with ultrapure water. The VOC-free ultrapure water delivered is suitable for preparation of blanks, standard solutions, reagents and samples used in the analysis of those substances,[1] or in situations where they may impact results, such as in electrochemistry studies.[2][3]

    1. Recommended storage conditions: temperatures from 5 to 30°C; humidity between 10 and 80%. The original sealed bag (if provided) must be kept intact before the first use to protect the purification element from foreign matter.

It's possible to place only one consumable order per year with a specific contract called "Consumable Supply Agreement (CSA)" (https://www.sigmaaldrich.com/US/en/products/water-purification/milli-q-consumables#csa).   6. If I have a final filter that I use only occasionally (e.g., Biopak®) and have another filter (e.g. Millipak®) that I most of the time, can I keep the 'occasional-use' filter for use again at a later time?

    1. It is not possible to re-use a filter that has been used and then removed because air intake during replacement creates an airlock and blocks water passing through the filter. If you regularly need two different filters, we recommend using two POD dispensers.

  7. How frequently do the various consumables need to be changed?

    1. The frequency that consumables must be changed depends on the system's usage (treated water volume) and on the consumables themselves (time of usage). In order to ensure the quality of water and your results, the consumables should be replaced when the system alerts you.

  9. Can consumables be opened and refilled?

    1. Unfortunately, this is not possible because of safety issues and the need to guarantee the quality of consumables and their interior purification components. Our consumables are manufactured in an ISO 9001-certified facility France in agreement with high quality standards.
