General description

Vimentin is a class III intermediate filament protein (homopolymers) found in various non-epithelial cells including mesenchymal cells and fibroblasts. In many cells of mesenchymal origin, it is one of the most prominent phosphoproteins, especially during cell division when enhanced phosphorylation of vimentin corresponds with the reorganization of vimentin filaments.

Immunogen

Vimentin extracted from chicken embryonic brain tissue.

Application

Anti-Vimentin Antibody, clone 3CB2 is an antibody against Vimentin for use in WB, IC, IH.
Immunocytochemistry Analysis: A representative lot was used by an independent laboratory in human central and peripheral retinal sections (Perez-Alvarez, M.J., et al. (2008). J Neurosci Res. 86(8):1871-1883).

Western Blot Analysis:
A representative lot was used to detect vimentin in chicken and rat total brain extracts (Prada, FA., et al. (1995). GLIA 15:389-400).

Immunohistochemistry Analysis:
A representative lot was used to detect vimentin in E3 chick embryo sections and different regions of the developing chick central nervous system (Prada, FA., et al. (1995). GLIA 15:389-400).
