This product is lyophilized from a solution containing 25 ug Tetanus toxoid in 100 mM histidine, 100 mM NaCl, and 5% trehalose. Tetanus Toxoid belongs to the vaccine class of medications. Useful for immunization against tetanus and wound prophylaxis. Non-toxic as determined by an LD50 assay in mice.
Aplicación
Tetanus Toxoid, Clostridium tetani has been used: as a positive-control antigen used to assess antibodies against different SARS-CoV-2 proteins and peptides in patients[1]; to assess lymphocyte proliferation in rabbit PBMC cultures in response to recall antigen stimulation[2]; a stimulus for PBMCs from chronic HBV carrier donors in a T cell proliferation assay[3]
Acciones bioquímicas o fisiológicas
Tetanus Toxoid acts against Clostridium tetani, a gram-positive bacillus that produces a neurotoxin called tetanospasmin. Tetanospasmin prevents the release of an inhibitory neurotransmitter and causes unopposed muscle contractions and spasms. Tetanus toxoid vaccine stimulates the immune system to respond to the vaccine’s antigens. The immune system’s T-lymphocytes (TH2 and B cells) secrete immunoglobulin against the antigen in the vaccine. This immunoglobulin helps to protect against future infections.
