Phosphatidylethanolamine (PE) is a phospholipid found in all living organism.[1] The egg yolk contains high levels of unsaturated PE which accounts to 83.10%.[2] The phosphatidylethanolamine (PE) headgroup is a zwitterion, with a negatively charged phosphate group and positively charged free amine group.[3]

Aplicación

Egg Trans PE is suitable for use:

• in the incubation of platelets for phospholipid enrichment and quantification by ultraperformance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (UPLC-MS/MS)[4]
• in the synthesis of isoketals-phosphatidylethanolamine (IsoK-PE)[5]
• in the preparation of phospholipid vesicles for factor X activation studies[6]

Acciones bioquímicas o fisiológicas

Phosphatidylethanolamine (PE) along with other phospholipids forms the backbone of biological membranes. PE is known to regulate autophagy. The autophagic membranes possesses PE with high degree of unsaturation.[1] Egg yolk PE has high radical scavenging activity owing to antioxidant potential.[2]
