Descripción general

The polyester-based biodegradable bioink is a photocrosslinkable, hydrophobic, and biocompatible bioink that combines the benefits of conventional stiff polyester materials with low temperature (<65°C) processability. This bioink has been used to generate and sustain 3D cellular structures of a variety of human tissues including cartilage (chondrocytes), blood vessels (HUVECs), smooh muscle cells (SMCs), and skin (HFFs).

Properties and Processing: The polyester-based biodegradable bioink is provided in a ready to print cartridge and is a semi-crystalline solid at room temperature with a melting emperature around 50°C and crystallization temperature of 25°C and displays Newtonian fluidic characteristics. The visocity of the bioink makes it suitable for an easy extrusion from the nozzlee during printing, resulting in a printable formulation in pneumatic 3D printers operating at pressures between 80-160 kPa. The ink is in molten state in the dispenser (~60°C), after which the printed constructs are solidified as a result of rapid cystrallization. The printed scaffold can then crosslinked via UV light.

Aplicación

3D bioprinting
Tissue engineering
In vitro modeling

Since its inception, tissue engineering and regenerative medicine (TERM) has been relying on either scaffold-based or scaffold-free strategies. Recent reports outlined the possibility of a synergistic, convergence approach, referred to as the third TERM strategy, which could alleviate bottlenecks of
