Questions

1–2 of 2 Questions
  1. Could you please provide information on whether the BeadBug prefill tubes for Benchmark's homogenizer are reusable?

    1 answer
    1. Per Benchmark Scientific, the tubes themselves are not reusable. The beads are reusable for a limited time and would need to be rinsed. The exact procedure for rinsing differs based on the bead material.

  2. Can beadbug tubes with tissue and buffer be stored in the -80°C environment, or will this have an adverse effect on the plastic of the tube?

    1 answer
    1. On January 22, 2024, Benchmark Scientific responded with the following information: The tubes can be stored at -80°C, but they must warm up to at least 0°C before they are used for bead beating. The tubes are made of polypropylene, which becomes brittle at temperatures below 0°C. Beadbeating the tubes when they are colder than that can cause them to crack.
