General description

Chicken/hen′s egg albumin, also known as ovalbumin (OVA), is the most abundant egg white protein. It is surrounded by B-cell epitopes, which are bound by specific IgE antibodies. In addition, it also contains CD4+ T cell epitopes. Ovalbumin is a monomeric protein with a molecular mass of 45000 Da.

application

Anti-Chicken Egg Albumin antibody produced in rabbit has been used in:
  • quantitative precipitin assay
  • indirect enzyme linked immunoassay (ELISA)
  • development of nonimmune rabbit antiserum against chicken ovalbumin

Biochem/physiol Actions

Chicken/hen′s egg albumin or ovalbumin (OVA) is a major allergen found in egg white and is widely used in allergy research. It has been widely used to determine the characteristics of class II major histocompatibility complex (MHC)-peptide binding and T-cell activation.
