General description

Trimethylanilinium hydroxide (TMAH) is an alkylating agent used effectively during esterification of carboxylic acids, etherfication of alcohols and N-alkylation of amino groups. This reagent forms N-methyl derivatives of molecules replacing hydrogen atoms attached to nitrogen.

Application

It is used to derivatize the serum sample for determination of Topiramate in Epileptic patients using GC-MS analysis.

Other Notes

Reagent for carboxylic acid methyl ester, methyl esters.
