General description

TBE (Tris/Borate/EDTA) Buffer is commonly used in nucleic acid electrophoresis. The TBE solution is effective under slightly basic conditions, which keeps DNA deprotonated , water-soluble, and protected from degradation. This concentrate can be easily diluted to 1x or 0.5x before use (with molecular biology grade water).

Application

Suitable for use as running buffer for nucleic acid electrophoresis, which may be part of Northern and Southern blot hybridization procedures.

Components

The TBE 10x liquid contains 1.3M TRIS, 450 mM boric acid and 25 mM EDTA in water.
