General description

Total organic carbon (TOC) is a measure of the total amount of carbon in an organic compound. It is a critical parameter to evaluate the water quality for possible organic contamination.

Application

This analytical standard is intended for the calibration and validation of analytical instruments used to measure the total organic carbon (TOC) of drinking water, groundwater, surface water, seawater, and wastewater in accordance with ISO/CEN EN1484.

TOC standard may be used in the analysis of organic matter, which determines the water quality using ultraviolet-visible spectrophotometric technique.[1]
